What is waxed canvas?
Waxed canvas is a durable cotton fabric treated with wax to create a water-resistant, weatherproof surface, originally used by sailors in the 15th century. It is known for its toughness, longevity, and the unique patina it develops with use.
Are your bags waterproof?
Yes and no, it depends on whether there is enough wax pattina left. When you receive your bag, the fabric is sufficiently waxed and can withstand water. However, please do not assume that the backpack can be soaked and the contents will not get wet - that is not the purpose of the waxed fabric. However, rainwater, for example, will not penetrate. But over time and depending on the intensity of use, the wax wears off and needs to be reapplied.
Does the waxed canvas leave marks?
No, they do not. You can wear and use your the backpack or duffel without fear of grease stains.
